It is early November. Restaurants are starting to make their Thanksgiving offerings known. Midwesterners are making their holiday plans with great anticipation. A wonderful feast is just around the corner. There are restaurants that have already posted their take & bake meals. There are also restaurants open on Thanksgiving Day, November 24th, 2022, around Cedar Rapids, that have already posted their buffet menus. Additional area restaurants will likely make their holiday plans known in the next week or two.
Whether you are cooking your first holiday meal in your new Cedar Rapids home, and just need a couple of pies, or would prefer to delegate all of the food preparation to local restaurants for dining our take-out you have several choices available to you today. We highly recommend making Thanksgiving dining reservations and placing pie and take & bake meal orders as soon as possible, as things are likely to fill up and sell out quickly (the folks at the Iowa Brewing Company know things get crowded and have expanded their taproom for their annual Thanksgiving Morning party). Take & Bake Meals
Bistro 3 Nineteen: Take & Bake Thanksgiving items are available to order from this Marion restaurant. Traditional main course selections include Roasted Turkey Breast, Maple Glazed Salmon, Sweet Potato Casserole, and Green Beans Almondine. The menu also includes breakfast items (Egg Home Fry Casserole, Blueberry French Toast) appetizers, and desserts. They also have Take & Bake Cookie Kits for the holidays. The kits include 2 lbs of cookie dough and all the edible fixings.
To get a proper sense of the delicious food available at Bistro 3 Nineteen, stop by the restaurant and enjoy a delicious meal before placing your holiday order. The dinner menu includes Braised Short Ribs (with smoked cheddar polenta and an herbed brown butter sauce) and a Cider Pork Chop (w/ bacon Brussels sprouts, roasted potatoes, and Bing cherry reduction). After sampling the daily bill of fare, you will place your holiday order with confidence. Due diligence can be its own reward when planning a meal. Bon Appétit!
The Class Act Restaurant: This Cedar Rapids restaurant, located in The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, is offering Take and Bake Dinners for Thanksgiving 2022. The meal is $119 and serves 4-5 people. Orders are being accepted until November 18th and can be picked up on Nov. 22nd or Nov. 23rd. The menu includes a Traditional Roasted Turkey (w/mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, roasted vegetables, herb dressing, cranberry chutney, and dinner rolls). The ticket price includes one pie of your choice (pumpkin, Dutch apple, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream, or Pecan) but you can purchase a couple more pies à la carte to keep everyone happy at your holiday feast.
On-Site Dining & Breakfast Parties
Cousin Eddie Party: The good folks at Iowa Brewing Company in Cedar Rapids want to help you start your Thanksgiving with an early morning holiday party. There will be food involved (they’re still hashing out the details but a breakfast burrito food truck is being discussed). The annual party will be held on Thanksgiving Morning November 24th, 2022 from 7:00am-12:00pm. The brewery will be serving Cousin Eddie Breakfast Ale on the patio (with space heaters) and in the taproom. Guests are encouraged to dress as Cousin Eddie or show up in their pajamas (but you have to wear something, folks in their birthday suits will not be admitted).
Robert’s Buffet: A traditional Thanksgiving Buffet will be served at Robert’s Buffet, part of Riverside Casino & Golf Resort, in neighboring Riverside. The buffet will be served on Thanksgiving: Thursday, November 24th, 2022 from 10:00am to 9:00pm. The holiday meal is $29.99 per person.
Ox Yoke Inn: Thanksgiving meals will be served onsite at the Ox Yoke Inn in neighboring Amana on Thanksgiving Day, November 24th, 2022 from 11:00am-3:00pm (reservations are required). The Family Style Banquet is available for parties of 8 or fewer (adult $28.99, children ages 5-10 $14.99) and parties of 8 or more (adult $31.99, children 5-10 $16.99). The Thanksgiving banquet includes roasted turkey, Amana carved ham, mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, cranberry relish, fresh fall fruit salad, and an Amana Bread Basket. The price includes desserts and beverages for parties of 8 or more, but not for parties of 8 or fewer (hence the price difference). All entrées and sides are refillable for this wonderful holiday feast.
The restaurant is also taking orders for take & bake meals, available to pick up on November 23rd from 11:00am-7:00pm. Their $94.99 Heat & Serve Meal for Four includes roasted turkey, ham, and sides. Whole pies are available à la carte (as are 3 lb turkeys and ham in pineapple sauce). Quantities are limited, so order soon.
